Portugal beat Turkey to confirm spot in Euro 2024 last 16
Comfortable 3-0 victory also sends them through as Group F winners
Turkey have now lost 8-0 to Portugal at the EURO
Portugal confirmed their place in the last 16 of Euro 2024 with a comfortable 3-0 win over Turkey on Thursday. Joao Felix, Diogo Jota and Cristiano Ronaldo scored the goals as Portugal finished top of Group F, with Turkey finishing bottom.
Portugal dominated the game from start to finish and could have won by more. Bruno Fernandes hit the post in the first half, while Ronaldo had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half.
Turkey offered little in attack and their only real chance came in the second half when Cengiz Under fired wide. Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa was not tested all night.
The victory was Portugal's third in a row at Euro 2024, and they have now won all four of their games against Turkey at the European Championship by an aggregate score of 8-0. That is a joint record along with Spain's record against Russia.
Portugal will now face the runners-up from Group D in the last 16, while Turkey's tournament is over.
